LAS MARIETAS ISLANDS Above and Below
Eco-Adventure in Punta Mita
A
short boat ride from the coast of Bahía de
Banderas, lie four unique and
uninhabited volcanic islands, one of
Mexico’s best destinations for
snorkeling and diving.
Parque Nacional Islas Marietas is a
protected marine and wildlife sanctuary, recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere
Reserve. Over 90 species of aquatic birds, including the extremely rare Blue-Footed Booby, live in the amazing caves
and rock formations of this archipelago.
Plunge into the pristine clear waters surrounding these rocky
outcrops, and mingle with sea turtles,
manta rays, eels, octopus, and thousands
of species of tropical fish. Swim under a natural arch and explore magical caves, and climb up
onto the virgin white sand of
Lover’s Beach.
